Decor Dilemmas

Published by Megan on Thu, 04/28/2011 - 00:21 in

We have a 'window' so to speak that allows the people in the kitchen to see who is at the front door and vice versa. The opening is over the kitchen sink, and on the kitchen side it is surrounded by cabinets. In the entryway/living room side, however, it was looking pretty plain.

Built-In Unit: In Progress

Published by Megan on Mon, 04/25/2011 - 21:51 in

This morning you got to see a 'sneak peek' of our built-in unit in the living room. I figured I'd go one step further and show you all of the shelves that we have "finished" for the time being. Truthfully, they will likely be a work-in-progress and continually be shifted around, changed out, and redecorated as the days, weeks, and months go by. Just keepin' it real.

Happy Easter!

Published by Megan on Mon, 04/25/2011 - 09:28 in

I meant to get this post out last night, but it was an incredibly busy day for us and the photos took forever to upload. I hope you all had a Happy Easter!! I just thought I'd do a quick update today about our Easter celebration - a bit of decoration, and a whole lot of our cute peanut.

Here is a photo of the banner I made to go in the opening between our living room and dining room. You can't really see it clearly in the picture, but the sign reads "Happy Easter". I know, you're completely surprised by my innovative slogan - ha!

Decisions, Decisions

Published by Megan on Fri, 04/22/2011 - 21:35 in

We seem to be having a difficult time making a decision re: the living room furniture layout. Okay, okay - I seem to be having a difficult time. Tonight we moved the sectional sofa back toward the walls of the living room. That's right, we added the corner unit back in and shifted the furniture around - almost exactly the location we had moved it from just a week or two ago.

Lofty Plans for a Playroom

Published by Megan on Wed, 04/20/2011 - 17:41 in

Remember those stairs right next to the front entry from the new rug post? Well, if you take those stairs to the second floor of our home, you will find yourself right outside the master bedroom and right next to our loft. Currently, the loft holds a combination of an office/craft room. To be honest, it’s not getting used as much as I had hoped, and tends to be a bit of a catch all for things. Overall, not the best use of space.

Back Entry

Published by Megan on Tue, 04/19/2011 - 23:01 in

Our back entry hallway was looking a little, well bland. Lackluster, if you will. For a long time, the back entry sat completely empty. When we rearranged the living room furniture, there was a half round table that had been located in the corner behind the sectional sofa. When the sectional was shifted away from the wall and turned into two freestanding couches, the half round table was relocated to the back entry. Until now, it sat in its new location alone – sans decoration. I felt as though it was in desperate need of a little TLC.

Easter Table Update

Published by Megan on Mon, 04/18/2011 - 23:25 in

The table-scape isn't quite finished yet, but I did add a spring runner to the dining room table and changed out the candlesticks for the white pots. Paired with the two white pots from IKEA, the Easter eggs in the Pottery Barn vase make the perfect centerpiece. I can't wait to add the brightly colored tulips and enjoy the space. I wanted to show you what a difference fun and festive decor make in a room, even though the centerpiece isn't totally finished yet. Here is a photo of the table with the non-festive centerpiece:

Easter Decorations

Published by Megan on Fri, 04/15/2011 - 22:13 in

With Easter coming soon and a little one at home now, I'm trying to come up with fun and festive (and inexpensive!) decorations to celebrate the holidays. We had purchased a bucket of plastic eggs at the grocery store a few weeks ago, and I got the idea to stick all of the plastic eggs into a large vase I have from Pottery Barn and plop it in the middle of our table. Is it something I would keep out for more than a week or two at Easter? Absolutely not. Is it bright and colorful and fun for her to look at? You betcha.

Mackenzie's Room: Before + In Progress

Published by Megan on Thu, 04/14/2011 - 09:06 in

Yesterday, I showed you a little section of Mackenzie's room with the window before and in progress. (See those photos here). Today, let's take a look at the entire room in progress and I will update you with the remaining plans we have for the space.

Let's Polka!

Published by Megan on Wed, 04/13/2011 - 21:40 in

For today, let's shift focus to another room in our home: Mackenzie's Room. Mackenzie is my daughter, and I absolutely adore the room that we have set up for her. It isn't quite finished yet, but we're getting close. I just added curtains (you guessed it, they're polka-dotted!) and wanted to show you the progress. These photos are definitely "In Progress" photos, as I haven't even had a chance to hem the curtains to the correct length yet...they are currently puddled on the floor, which isn't exactly my design cup of tea.
